                         T. E. "Sandy" Sondrol

Raised beside a lake in Iowa, I began sailing at age 4 and immediately became a dedicated water rat.  Scuba diving began for me in the middle 60's, in high school, but didn't become certified until the early 1990's. In between those two events I remained near that lake in Iowa and practiced law to pay the bills. The "water rat" reemerged in 1994 when I left the law practice and moved to Grand Cayman to become a dive instructor and boat captain for Bob Soto's Diving. After nearly 10 years in Cayman, it was back to the States to join Nekton liveaboards for three years. However, my long held desire to write for a dive magazine materialized at Dive Chronicles, giving me a chance to travel and dive, all the while taking pictures and writing about it. I am now writing and shooting freelance.
